Gridlock concept
Gridlock provides operational commanders the ability to rapidly generate accurate target coordinates suitable for coordinate-seeking weapons, using both still and motion imagery from tactical manned and unmanned platforms.
Two integrated military needs are driving Gridlock:
- Engage and destroy time-sensitive targets.
- Improve geolocation accuracy and increase production of coordinates for next-generation weapons.
Gridlock is designed around two core components, the smart image component (SIC) and “smart images”. The SIC, the key Gridlock element, automatically correlates tactical imagery to reference imagery. The SIC then generates “smart images,” each permanently embedded with enhanced metadata so that positional accuracy of any point within the smart image approaches that of the reference image.
The smart image viewer is a platform-independent software application that displays smart images and allows the user to extract coordinates and error estimates with a single mouse click.
