With an ever increasing number of systems operating in the Radio Frequency segment of the electromagnetic spectrum, the issues of Electromagnetic Interference and compatibility are becoming of paramount importance in the design, development and operation of electronic systems.

The ATC has a unique Radio Frequency (RF) test and measurement facility that provides comprehensive measurement and diagnostic services for antenna systems and products using a dedicated chamber known as a Near Field Test Facility (NFTF).

The NFTF may be used throughout the product lifecycle from design and development through to production, product verification and test. It is a time and cost effective method to mitigate and minimise development and production risk. The facility can equally be applied to existing equipment for continued development or rapid fault diagnostics. The NFTF is one of a number of ATC antenna test facilities which include a small, Far-Field, tapered anechoic chamber and a comprehensive range of measuring equipment.

The NFTF can accommodate antenna apertures up to 9 metres wide, with a maximum mass of 10 tonnes enabling the facility to measure a vast range of products from mobile phone handset antennas through to large air traffic control radar antennas. The facility is operated and managed by a dedicated team of engineering staff with extensive experience in the measurement and interpretation of antenna performance. The NFTF is approved to quality assurance standard ISO9000.
