Guy Griffiths
Guy Griffiths was appointed Group Managing Director - International for BAE Systems in October 2008. In this role he has responsibility for BAE Systems' operations Australian, India, Omani and Saudi Arabian operations, and for BAE Systems’ interests in MBDA, SAAB and Air Astana.
Over the past 30 years Guy has operated in most sectors of BAE Systems. Previous posts have included commercial, procurement, IT and project management roles within the military and civil aircraft sectors and Space Systems business unit. As IT Director for British Aerospace, Guy undertook a major independent review of the Company's IT infrastructure and service quality which culminated in the outsourcing of the majority of the Company's IT function.
In 1997, he moved to the Company's guided weapons subsidiary, Matra BAe Dynamics, where he was appointed Programmes Director. With the enlargement of that Company into MBDA, he was appointed Managing Director, MBDA UK. In October 2002, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of MBDA, with operational responsibility for the Company's French, Italian, German and UK operations. He remains today as non-, executive Chairman and Board Member of MBDA.
Guy's external posts have included Chairman of the Defence Manufacturers' Association, and Co-Chairman of the Ministry of Defence/Industry Commercial Policy Strategy Group. He currently sits on the Anglo-Franco High Level Working Group, a Ministerial-level body advising on UK / French Defence Co-operation.
Guy was born in 1957 and graduated in economics from University College, Cardiff, in 1978.
He was appointed CBE in the 2008 Birthday Honours List for services to the Defence Industry.
