Tom Wallace

Tom Wallace is vice president of the Advanced Energy Solutions business within BAE Systems’ Electronics, Intelligence & Support (EI&S) operating group.

Based in Arlington, Virginia, Advanced Energy Solutions leads the operating group’s efforts to provide reliable, efficient, sustainable solutions for energy generation, distribution, management, and use to defense, government, and commercial customers. He assumed leadership of Advanced Energy Solutions upon the organization’s inception in July 2009.

EI&S, with headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, employs more than 33,000 people and serves the electronics, services, information technology, and power and controls markets. The group provides a wide range of electronic systems and subsystems for military and commercial applications, as well as integrated technical and professional service solutions for U.S. national security and federal markets.

Wallace previously was engineering director and chief technical officer for advanced technologies within BAE Systems’ Electronic Solutions line of business. He has performed and managed research and development for energy and defense for more than 20 years at Atlantic Richfield, E-Systems, Raytheon, and Advanced Power Technologies. He has broad expertise in managing the development of new technologies and the design, analysis, construction, and use of systems that employ them, including systems for power conversion and transfer, chemical analysis, subsurface sensing, communications, radar, ionospheric modification, electrooptical imaging, and signal processing.

Wallace received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in technology and science policy from Georgia Tech, and a master’s and doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Florida. During his career, he has been a member of teams that won the DARPA Director’s Award for significant technical achievement and Raytheon’s Thomas L. Phillips award for excellence in technology.
