NASHUA, New Hampshire — BAE Systems has provided $30,000 in support to organizations aiding veterans in the Nashua and Manchester areas. The company donated $15,000 each to the Easter Seals Veterans Count program and to Liberty House.
Veterans Count provides support services to families of deployed soldiers, and returning veterans. The organization helps service men and women overcome the hardships associated with deployment and the return to civilian lifestyle. Veterans Count assists individuals on a broad range of issues including employment, disability, social attitudes, family, transportation and financial aid.
Liberty House is a transitional-housing facility for homeless veterans. Veterans are provided with a safe and nurturing environment in which they can transition out of homelessness. They are provided clothing, daily meals, counseling services, as well as assistance with job searches, medical care, housing, and education.
“The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are increasing the demand for services that support service members and veterans, “ said Michael A. Heffron, president of BAE Systems’ Electronics and Integrated Solutions operating group, based in Nashua. “While these funds will help, we also recognize that much more support is needed.”
BAE Systems has donated approximately $100,000 in support to nonprofit organizations serving veterans, first responders, and their families in New Hampshire so far in 2008.
