Mentor Protege Program

BAE Systems:

  • Provides mentoring to qualified small disadvantaged, woman-owned, HUBZone, and service disabled veteran-owned small companies in the Federal Sector, both in Department of Defense and civilian agencies, by using their services on a bona fide contract.
  • Reviews and approves candidates for the mentor protégé program based on their corporate capabilities and complementary skills. The program limits participants in order to provide necessary focus for protégé development.
  • Received the coveted Nunn-Perry Award in 2010, for its success in the Department of Defense Mentor Protégé Program.

Participation Criteria

Either:

  • Certification by the U.S. Small Business Administration as a HUBZone small business
    or
  • Self-certification as a small disadvantaged, woman-owned small business or service disabled veteran-owned business
  • Subcontracting relationship with BAE Systems for a minimum of two years
  • Active participation under subcontract to BAE Systems with the agency under which the mentor-protégé agreement will be placed
  • Willingness to sign a nondisclosure statement allowing BAE Systems to assess the protégé's business records
  • Be sponsored by the appropriate BAE Systems vice president and general manager for participation in the program
