Navigation Systems

BAE Systems provides navigation systems with varying levels of functionality.

These range from simple, single-axis rate sensor solutions for flight control applications, to precision-grade integrated navigation/vehicle control solutions capable of operating in GPS-denied environments.

Our NavPaq™ product family is fielded on more than 40 platforms. These products integrate navigation, GPS, flight controls, and air data into a single package for increased capability, reduced box count, reduced weight, and reduced platform integration complexity.

Applications for our navigation systems include:

  • Manned military and civil aircraft, both fixed and rotary-wing.
  • Unmanned air vehicles, both fixed and rotary-wing.
  • Airborne targets requiring fully autonomous navigation and flight control.
  • Wheeled or tracked land systems, both manned and unmanned.

And our navigation products feature the following capabilities:

  • GPS-aided inertial navigation.
  • Air data sensing and processing.
  • In-air magnetometer (heading sensor) calibration.
  • Execution environments for customer application software, requiring no involvement from BAE Systems
  • Extensive initiated and continuous self-test capabilities.
  • Robust mechanical designs complying with military and/or DO-160D standards for EMI, temperature, shock, vibration, acceleration, and humidity.
  • A wide variety of vehicle interfaces.
  • Turbine and piston engine interfaces and controls.
