2. What happens once you've sent your application form?
We'll send you an email confirming receipt of your application, just so you know it's arrived. Our recruitment team and the business manager responsible for the vacancy will then consider your application and decide whether to invite you to take part in a phone interview.
3. Phone Interviews
If your application is successful, we'll invite you to take part in a phone interview.
Here, we'll cover in greater detail the information you've supplied.
In particular, we'll be interested in finding out more about your past work experience, how well it fits the role requirements and how good a match you are for BAE Systems.
We'll also take this opportunity to find out more about your skills and confirm your qualifications.
If your phone interview is successful, we will invite you to take part in the next stage of our recruitment process: face to face assessment.
Before your phone interview:
- Make sure you are free and have access to a quiet room at the agreed time of your interview.
- Have a pen and paper handy to jot down any notes you might want to take.
- Have a copy of your application and CV to hand.
- Learn more about what we're looking for in competency-based assessments.
During the call:
- Try to relax and answer the questions as fully as possible. However, try not to give unnecessary detail.
- Speak clearly and slowly - it will be more difficult to communicate over the telephone as you cannot give or receive any non-verbal signals.
- Smile and be happy as you talk - this will come across in the tone of your voice.
- Listen carefully to the questions and, if you don't understand, ask for clarification.
- If you want time to consider your answer before you speak, ask.
4. Face to face assessment
If your application and phone interviews are successful, and you are shortlisted for a role, a member of our recruitment team will contact you invite you to take part in the next stage in your recruitment process, which is face to face assessment.
This can take the form of either an interview or a day in our assessment centre. Whatever form your assessment takes, it's an opportunity for you to tell us about your achievements, skills and competencies.
