Case Study

"The experience in collaborations for innovation that BAE Systems brings to CSIT is invaluable, and they’re obviously an ideal route to market in the defence and security space."

Professor John McCanny
Principal Investigator, Centre for Secure Information Technologies, Queen's University Belfast

Aims of the investment:
CSIT is one of the first Innovation and Knowledge Centres (IKCs) created in the UK with the support of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Technology Strategy Board.

IKCs are centres of excellence with five years' funding to accelerate and promote business exploitation of an emerging research and technology field. Their key feature is a shared space and entrepreneurial environment, in which researchers, potential customers and skilled professionals from both academia and business can work side-by-side to scope applications, business models and routes to market.

BAE Systems is pleased to participate on the industry advisory board to help steer this significant R&D programme and provide exploitation routes for its many outputs.

Why Queen’s University, Belfast?
