BAE SYSTEMS North America appoints Richard Ashooh Vice President legislative affairs

BAE Systems North America has announced the appointment of Richard Ashooh as vice president of legislative affairs. In this newly created position, Ashooh will provide guidance, policy direction, management and oversight of the legislative function and will represent the company for federal, state and local government affairs.

Ashooh joins BAE Systems Washington office from the company's Information and Electronic Warfare Systems business in Nashua, New Hampshire, where he served as vice president for public affairs. In that capacity, he was responsible for the unit's federal legislative programme, state and local government relations, community outreach, and philanthropic initiatives.

Prior to joining the company in 1993, Ashooh served as a staff member to two United States senators and as a professional staff member to the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, where his responsibilities included oversight of federal procurement policies.

Ashooh holds a Bachelor's degree in political science from the University of New Hampshire and is a past regional vice president of the National Association of Manufacturers Public Affairs Steering Committee. He has also served on the Board of Governors of New Hampshire Public Television; the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium Commission; and the New Hampshire Governor's Task Force on Educational Adequacy.
