BAE SYSTEMS showcases S31 capabilities

15 Oct 2002

BAE Systems will hold an Open Day at its Canberra office today to showcase its tailored through-life support, services and solutions for future and in-service defence and civil capabilities.

"Our Customer Solutions & Support business provides integrated solutions to ensure our customers' operational requirements are supported and maintained throughout the contract or product life," said Mr Christopher Wright, Marketing Director, BAE Systems Australia.

"The Open Day is a unique opportunity for customers to learn about the range of projects BAE Systems operates. This spectrum includes managing government and defence facilities such as the Woomera range in South Australia and the Canberra Deep Space Communications Complex in Canberra, to providing forward maintenance support to the Australian Defence Force in Timor and Darwin," he said.

A demonstrator for night vision compatible lighting conversions will feature at the Open Day.

With more than 12 years experience in night vision lighting conversions, BAE Systems has designed a replica PC-9 cockpit to demonstrate problems with existing lighting when viewed with night vision equipment and the available solutions through conversion to night vision friendly lighting.

BAE Systems is acquiring the design and manufacturing technology for advanced lighting conversions from Oxley Avionics for application to Australian Defence Force platforms. Modifications are required for cockpits, instrument panels and external lighting on aircraft, ships and vehicles.

Also on show at the Open Day will be BAE Systems' flight training capabilities. BAE Systems carries out pilot training for the Australian Defence Force and many of the world's major airlines and is recognised as setting the standard for military and civil pilot training.

With core skills in maintenance, repair and overhaul, manpower services, facilities management and training, BAE Systems is a key capability partner for defence and civil customers worldwide.

The BAE Systems S3I Open Day will be held in Canberra on Tuesday 15th October between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
