West Air Sweden Leases Another ATP Freighter To Bring Fleet To 13 Aircraft

07 Mar 2005

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has signed another long-term lease with West Air Sweden for a further ATP freighter, to bring the airlines fleet of the twin turboprop 8-tonne freighter to thirteen.

The aircraft (msn 2056) was delivered to the Romaero conversion facility in Baneasa, near Bucharest in November. It is currently being converted into a Large Freight Door (LFD) aircraft and will be delivered to West Air Sweden in the second quarter of 2005, following which the airline will install its own E-Class bulk freight interior.

The addition of this thirteenth ATP freighter to the West Air Sweden fleet will mean that the airline will have four of the type fitted with the Large Freight Door. It is the growing requirement for containerised freight and the airlines success in operating the ATPF for the large integrators on routes across Europe that has led West Air Sweden to acquire a further ATPF equipped with the Large Freight Door.

The remaining nine aircraft all are configured as E-Class freighters that are loaded through the normal passenger doors. These aircraft are either operated on internal routes for the Swedish Post Office, or also on behalf of the major integrators.
