WASHINGTON – BAE Systems welcomes three new leaders in the new year who will continue to provide ethical leadership, reliable services and products and support the men and women in uniform.
The following appointments, all previously announced, took effect at the beginning of the year.
Walt Havenstein is chief operating officer and member of the Board of Directors of BAE Systems plc, and president and chief executive officer of BAE Systems Inc. Havenstein succeeds Mark Ronald, who retired on 2 January. Havenstein was previously president of the company’s Electronics and Integrated Solutions (E&IS) group. Prior to that role, Havenstein was the executive vice president for BAE Systems North America. He has held several leadership positions; including executive vice president and then president of Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Company. He remained president of the unit after it was sold to BAE Systems in November 2000. Before joining Sanders in February 1999, he was vice president and general manager of the Strategic Systems Division for Raytheon at Falls Church, Virginia. Havenstein is based at the company’s headquarters in the Washington area.
Michael A. Heffron is president of the company’s E&IS operating group based in Nashua, New Hampshire. He succeeds Walt Havenstein. Previously, Heffron was the president of the company’s Platform Solutions unit since April 2006. Prior to that position, he was president of the Information Warfare business and previously served as vice president of engineering for BAE Systems’ Information and Electronic Warfare Systems unit.
Linda Hudson has taken leadership of the company’s Land and Armaments operating group. Hudson, former president of General Dynamics Armament and Technical products division succeeds Tom Rabaut, who retired in December 2006 after serving more than 30 years in the military and defense industry. Hudson has served in a number of senior management positions at General Dynamics, as well as with Lockheed Martin, Martin Marietta, Ford Aerospace and Communications Corp., and Harris Corp. She is based in Arlington, Virginia.
