BAE SYSTEMS OPENS INNOVATION CENTER IN HONOLULU

17 Feb 2009 | Ref. 030/2009

HONOLULU, Hawaii — BAE Systems opened a regional innovation center in downtown Honolulu that will house demonstrations of the company’s systems and software capabilities. The 3,000-square-foot Innovation Center Pacific links to similar BAE Systems facilities in San Diego, California and Reston, Virginia, and soon will link to a fourth facility under construction in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle attended the dedication of the center, along with Jennifer Sabas, chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye, Honolulu civic leaders and BAE Systems officials. The company demonstrated capabilities to support collaborative development of products and technologies for its military and commercial customers.

“Distance is no longer a limiting factor in our ability to apply creative thinking to the needs of our customers,” said Ty Aldinger, BAE Systems site executive in Honolulu. “The Innovation Center Pacific is part of a growing network of facilities that are linking our best minds across the company.”

BAE Systems employs 1,000 people in Honolulu, developing military identification and surveillance systems and performing ship repair services at the BAE Systems Hawaii Shipyards.
