LEXINGTON, Massachusetts — BAE Systems has named Michael L. Lewis vice president and general manager of its Infrared Imaging Systems unit, based in Lexington. Lewis previously was vice president of business development for the company’s Sensor Systems business, based in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Infrared Imaging Systems develops and produces infrared weapon sights and other equipment for military and commercial uses. The business employs 600 people at three sites in Lexington.
Prior to joining BAE Systems in 2004, Lewis was director of command and control systems for Raytheon Network Centric Systems, leading that unit’s DD(X) program activities. He also served as president of Raytheon’s facility in Richmond, Canada, and served in a number of technical and program management roles during his 24-year tenure.
Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont, a master’s in microwave engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and a master’s in business administration from Boston University.
