Light Tactical Vehicle Armor

M1114 Up-Armored HMMWV
The M1114 Up-Armored HMMWV has been used primarily by the US Army and the US Marines for reconnaissance and military patrols and has been deployed in peacekeeping missions in Somalia, Haiti, the Balkans, Afghanistan and most recently in Iraq. This vehicle offers perimeter ballistic protection, IED protection, mine blast protection, overhead burst protection and “white glass” heated transparent armor, as well as gunner shield and gunner protection kits.

M1116 Up-Armored HMMWV
The M1116 Up-Armored HMMWV is used by the U.S. Air Force for Security Forces and Civil Engineering missions plus EOD and Base Recovery After Attack missions. This versatile armored light tactical wheeled vehicle system features a gunner protection kit, mechanized traversing turret mechanism, expanded rear compartment and added underbody M67 grenade fragmentation protection.

M1145 Up-Armored HMMWV
The M1145 Up-Armored HMMWV offers all the ballistic, blast and fragmentation protection of the US Army and USMC M1114, yet is specifically designed to allow US Air Force Air Support Operations Squadrons (ASOS) to operate in the same environment as their US Army counterparts. The M1145 UAH offers perimeter ballistic protection, IED protection, mine blast protection, overhead burst protection and “white glass” heated transparent armor.
 
M1151 HMMWV Armor Kit
We provide integrated armor protection through a variety of armor kits for the M1151 and M1152 HMMWVs. We supply specific armor sub-system components for inclusion in the vehicle manufacturing process as well as a specially designed armor package that may be added to the vehicle in the field to obtain the baseline level of protection specified for the M1114 Up-Armored HMMWV.

M1165 HMMWV Armor Kit
The M1165 HMMWV is used as a command & control vehicle. The vehicle can seat four passengers and has an open rear area that can be used for external equipment. Mobility & Protection Systems supplies the underbody armor for the vehicle (called the “A-Kit”) and the perimeter armor for the vehicle (called the “B-Kit”). The vehicle meets the same protection as the M1114 HMMWV.

Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV)
BAE Systems' vehicle armoring site in Cincinnati is the survivability lead for the JLTV team that is lead by Lockheed Martin Systems Integration, Owego, New York.

The Cincinnati team’s primary role as the survivability lead is to design a compliant cab that meets the program survivability requirements and takes into consideration human factors.  In this role the team has:
• Supported the build of four functional prototype vehicles by designing and fabricating several fully armored cabs.
• Conducted numerous live tests, which have been used to refine and validate the ability of the cab to meet the JLTV survivability requirements.
• Performed survivability modeling and simulation to refine designs, enhance survivability and optimize the cab weight.
• Conducted direct fire testing to evaluate and optimize ballistic solutions.
