Autonomous landing guidance
The autonomous approach landing capability (AALC) system is a vision system that enables pilots to land aircraft in low-visibility conditions down to 0/0.
This millimeter-wave, radar-based system provides a clear image of the runway and environment to the pilot on a head-up display. Landing in low-visibility conditions would require category III autoland equipment for the runway and on the aircraft. An AALC-equipped aircraft is capable of landing on category I runways in category III conditions, and at austere fields.
