JTIDS Class 2 terminal
JTIDS terminals operate in L-band, concurrent with systems such as IFF and TACAN, using spread spectrum techniques to distribute encrypted information reliably in a hostile environment. Extensive interference protection features effectively monitor radio frequency emission and prevent interference to these systems.
Class 2 terminals provide:
- Secure, jam-resistant, digital data and voice communication
- Position determination using both integral relative navigation and TACAN
- Cooperative identification between subscribers
The system consists of a receiver/transmitter (R/T) and a data processor group (DPG).
JTIDS Class 2 Terminal Features:
- Secure, jam-resistant connectivity
- High throughput
- Distributed network control
- Service and NATO interoperability
- Omnidirectional
- Long-range coverage
- Dual-mode identification
- Full-performance TACAN
- Accurate position data
JTIDS Class 2 Terminal Applications:
- Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS)
- Airborne Battlefield Command Control Center (ABCCC)
- Air Operations Center (AOC)
- Modular Control Equipment (MCE) shelter
- F-14 Tomcat carrier-based fighter
