Law enforcement
Law enforcement professionals are often tasked with missions that require them to monitor suspicious activities, track and apprehend suspected criminals, or locate missing persons, all in an environment often compromised by complete darkness and/or adverse weather conditions.
The HHC100 series of handheld infrared (IR) cameras, manufactured by BAE Systems, allows law enforcement professionals to gain an advantage by allowing them to see suspects or victims hidden by the cover of darkness, fog, and other common obscurants.
The ability to see before being seen enhances the officer’s ability to make a swift apprehension with little resistance, thereby maximizing officer safety.
FUGITIVE APPREHENSION
The pursuit of fugitives often leads law enforcement professionals to remote areas of darkness, placing their safety at risk. The HHC100 series of uncooled IR cameras, manufactured by BAE Systems, allows the officers and agents to maintain situational awareness by providing imagery independent of darkness, fog, smoke, and other common obscurants.
In addition, the cameras allow officers to detect fugitives hiding in trees and brush by sensing IR radiation (heat). As long as there is an opening in the foliage, an abnormal heat signature will be visible, alerting the officer or agent of the possible danger and need to investigate.
INTRUDER DETECTION
An unlocked gate, a hole cut in the fence, or an open door are all visible signs that an intruder may have gained unauthorized access to your property. Once the search begins, the HHC100 series of uncooled IR cameras will allow the security professional to maintain situational awareness.
In addition, the ability to detect an intruder from a longer standoff distance than possible with the naked eye results in greater awareness and preparedness prior to intruder apprehension and arrest.
CONTRABAND DETECTION
The HHC100 series of uncooled handheld IR cameras generates high-resolution thermal imagery with unprecedented sensitivity, making the cameras an ideal tool for contraband detection.
Agents can image vehicles as they pass through checkpoints, scanning the walls of cargo trucks or rail cars and fenders of cars for abnormal thermal patterns, indicative of hidden compartments. IR cameras also provide a non-intrusive, passive means of detecting contraband being smuggled by human carriers.
The HHC100 series, LTC550, and PMC300 have been certified as approved products for homeland security under the SAFETY Act.
