Weapon target pairing (WTP) accesses data from air operations, air battle plans, and friendly order-of-battle databases to recommend pairings of strike assets (for example, fighter aircraft) against emerging targets. Threat and track data are accessed and processed from the integrated C4I system framework tactical management system. WTP considers air and surface joint weapons when generating pairing solutions, providing multiple outputs. A manual pairing capability is provided as a backup to automatic planning.
WTP generates optimized asset-target pairings for a range of operational tempos, from a few assets and targets to several dozen of each.
The plans are typically generated within seconds and take into account a number of parameters during the optimization procedure, including:
- Asset priority
- Threat vulnerability
- Weapons loads and effects
- Type and priority of time-sensitive targeting (TST)
- Priority of the original air tasking order target
- Air spaces
- Fuel
- TST window of vulnerability
