XML-Defined Gateway (XDG)

The XML-defined gateway (XDG) provides seamless data interchange among heterogeneous communication systems in a scalable, all-inclusive manner. The XDG facilitates interoperability among legacy tactical data links while providing an infrastructure for new support services to be layered within the gateway.

XDG incorporates two distinct advantages:

  • A common-message approach for effective scalability across an increasing number of tactical data links.
  • Streamlined implementation of data-format-parsing specification, translation processing, and communication protocols by automatically generating processing code.

The XDG offers an efficient process for inserting additional communication systems into the gateway, improved reliability of message translation, ease of system maintainability, and support for data broadcast functionality.
