BAE Systems is the exclusive manufacturer of Tensylon®, a lightweight ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (PE) material produced with solid state extrusion technology. Tensylon® proprietary products offer a unique combination of ballistic and structural performance, weight and cost savings when compared to other high performance anti ballistic composites including para-aramids and other commercially available PE materials. Protective applications include: composite anti-ballistic spall and applique panels for tracked, tactical and commercial armored vehicles (including HMMWV and MRAP), hybrid and monolithic insert plates and helmets for personal protection. Other applications include aerospace, sporting goods, rope, cordage, and consumer products.
