Modular Gunner Protection Systems (MGPS)

Modular Gunner Protection Systems Transparent Armor Gun Shields

Modular Gunner Protection Systems Transparent Armor Gun Shields

The primary version of the Modular Gunner Protection Systems (MGPS) is commonly known as Marine Corps Transparent Armor Gun Shields (MCTAGS).  BAE Systems provides the MCTAGS kits and spares to support U.S. Marine Corps vehicles currently engaged in combat operations.

The kits are installed on:

  • High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs)
  • Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) units
  • Logistics Vehicle Systems (LVSs)

Over 10,000 systems have been delivered to the U.S. Army, USMC, and USN with operational experience in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

The MGPS provides increased lethality and survivability to the gunner by providing superior protection against small arms fire and IED fragments.  The protection provides direct vision situational awareness, target acquisition and is capable of integrating existing weapon sights which facilitate rapid target engagement. The powered drive system allow the MGPS to freely rotate 360 and the gunner can engage all targets while being protected. Additional counter sniper, over head concealment and non-lethal systems such as Venom are ready for integration.

MPGS can be adjusted to adapt to any wheeled or tracked personnel carrier providing light weight superior survivability.

BAE Systems Transparent Armor Gun Shields (TAGS) units are configurable for a wide range of vehicles and applications, including the Bradley Armored Commander's Shield, M1 Abrams, M113, HMMWV, and Transparent Armor for the Stryker Common Ballistic Shield. TAGS is particularly effective in close-combat urban environments.
