The aerospace industry is vital to the North West and the new investment and development at Samlesbury will offer big benefits to the sector in this part of the world and beyond.

The investment will help sustain current jobs and offers the potential to create a significant number of new jobs to strengthen the future of aerospace in Lancashire.

The development will help the North West Development Agency and BAE Systems harness and retain the skills, technology and knowledge of the sector that the region possesses. The development also creates excellent long-term prospects for employment and will provide innovation and technology to support current and future manufacturing programmes.

The development will consolidate a range of essential activities on one site and is an example of how BAE Systems is working to transform the air sector and provide improved levels of support and increased value to our customers.

The Samlesbury site development is firmly aligned to the North West Development Agency's economic strategy and will benefit to the whole of the aerospace industry in the North West.

The development which will span a number of years features new office accommodation, plans for the expansion of manufacturing facilities including a new materials engineering and structural test building as well as a new site entrance and reception building.
