WHAT WE DO

Platform Solutions is a transatlantic business, part of BAE Systems Electronics and Integrated Solutions operating group, serving the defence and aerospace communities with capabilities and products that improve operational safety and enhance mission effectiveness. The business supports a wide range of military and commercial platforms.

Our world-class technology is helping to redefine what an aircraft (and its pilot) can and can’t achieve. For example, the products we’ve developed for both rotary and fixed-wing aircraft offer pilots a heightened sense of their surroundings. That greater degree of awareness means they can safely take off and land in extremely low visibility conditions, including fog, sandstorms, heavy rain and darkness.

The pilot’s helmet we’ve developed for Typhoon is another example of our ongoing commitment to innovation. It’s the most technologically advanced helmet in today’s defence avionics market, enabling the pilot (among many other things) to direct the plane’s weapons systems with a simple turn of the head. We were also the first company to develop and demonstrate a lightweight, cost-effective all weather cable detection system for helicopters. It’s a major step forward in helping to reduce accidents involving power cables, and can detect these obstacles at a distance of 2.5 km.

YOUR DEVELOPMENT

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Whether you’re aiming for accreditation with the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), or the Institute of Physics (IOP), we’ll provide all the support you need to achieve Chartered status.
